Manx GP 2017 Isle of Man

Michael Evans has won the Junior Manx Grand Prix after it was re-started following a crash involving Australian rider Royce Rowe.

The Santon man, 24, finished 22 seconds ahead of Preston’s Darren Cooper at the end of the shortened three-lap race with Jamie Williams from Douglas third.

Evans, who also posted a new lap record at 120.619mph, said he was “delighted.”

The race was red-flagged after Rowe hit a lamppost at Union Mills bringing it down onto the course.

Organisers said the Adelaide racer has now been transferred to a hospital in the UK with multiple arm and leg fractures.

The 23-year-old was in second place at the time of the accident.

The race was later re-started after the course had been cleared of debris and fuel and the damaged lamp post made safe.

Meanwhile, Cooper won the afternoon’s Lightweight Manx Grand Prix ahead of Irish racer Andrew Farrell.

The Kawasaki-mounted 37-year-old finished 27.986 seconds ahead of Farrell with Welshman Barry Lee Evans third.

Cooper said: “It’s absolutely mega. I can’t believe it. It was a great race and I really got my head down on the last lap.”

Spain’s Victor Lopez Santos finished three seconds down on Evans in fourth.

Yesterday as she was headed for a business meeting, the 19th-year-old wore a white silk dress and top it off with a white corset. You already know that the Jenner/Kardashian girls love themselves a good corset. But in this case, I believe it was an unnecessary addition.

Kylie Janner has for sure an amazing taste in fashion, but some outfits she wears are a total miss. This one is right on the line between good and bad. The dress is lovely, the length is fine- she does have great legs so why not show them off, but the corset is just over the top. But, the outfit is saved by those amazing Gianvito Rossi sandals, they are the perfect add and since she doesn’t have any accessories, they are the only add. A great choice.

DEREK BELL JOINS JACKY ICKX AS PART OF LE MANS SUPERSTAR LINE UP Legendary Le Mans pairing Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell will be teaming up again for a special appearance at the London Classic Car Show (23-26 February, ExCeL London). Ickx, regarded as the world’s greatest all-round racing driver with Grand Prix and Paris-Dakar wins to go with his six Le Mans victories and two World Endurance titles, will be guest of honour at the exhibition. A special display will showcase several of the iconic cars he raced and rallied while Ickx will appear live on stage to discuss his remarkable career with broadcaster and journalist Henry Hope-Frost. They will be joined by five time Le Mans winner Britain’s Derek Bell, MBE. Ickx and Bell shared the top step of the 24 Hours podium three times – in 1975 (Mirage) and 1981 and 1982 (Porsche). As former Ferrari Grand Prix and sports car drivers, Ickx and Bell will also be talking about those chapters of their respective driving careers. Twenty of the greatest road cars to wear the Prancing Horse badge – and together worth more than £120 million – will form one of the major displays at the show to celebrate the legendary Italian company. Ickx and Bell, too, will be VIP guests at the show’s star-studded Gala Evening (Thursday, 23 February) where they will be joined by two other Le Mans superstars – Emanuele Pirro, who claimed five victories for Audi, and Jürgen Barth, who won in 1977 sharing a Porsche with Ickx. Together the quartet can claim 17 victories at Le Sarthe. Bell said: “Sharing a car with Jacky at Le Mans was one of the high points of my career. The Australian Open and Emirates Airline have announced a new Grand Slam partnership, launching a multi-year deal that will see the two global brands unite for the first time.

The announcement was made at Melbourne Airport on Sunday, with Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley describing the global airline as “a perfect fit” for Australia’s largest annual sporting event.

“We are delighted to join forces with Emirates and welcome the airline to the Australian Open family,” Tiley said.

“Emirates is a prestigious international brand that closely aligns with our values and links perfectly with our ambition to extend our global reach. Each year we pride ourselves on presenting a world class sporting event at Melbourne Park, and sharing that experience with millions of tennis fans worldwide.

“Emirates is another world class brand that strives to bring people together all over the world, every day. We look forward to commencing our relationship this summer and we’re excited to grow the partnership into the future.”
